The body and brain are where meanings arise in and through our interactions with the environment and other people. Mind is not a separate entity consisting of "mental substance". Embodied mind makes meaning via primary metaphors by unconsciously mapping common visual and motor-sensory experience onto the abstract functioning of the cortex.
